European Voyage of Understanding, August 2006.

We have had over 120 registrations!

 

Those who applied before this date should have had an e-mail message acknowledging the

form submitted from this web-site.

 

Selection-interviews will be held at appropriate locations in Nicosia on Saturday 24th June

(for T-C applicants) and on Saturday 1st July (for G-C applicants).  We will contact you

by e-mail with the location and time for your interview.

 

All twelve selected Turkish-Cypriot and Greek-Cypriot crew will be required to attend an

Open Day in Nicosia on Saturday 8th July to meet representatives of NGOs and agree

arrangements for their week of voluntary work. Crew-members and their parents/teachers

are invited to a pre-voyage Reception at the same location later on that day, at which a film

of the ship will be shown, travel arrangements for joining the ship will be announced and

questions answered.

 

 

Bi-communal Project Conditions.

To be eligible for a supported place on the European Voyage of Understanding, each applicant must:

   · live in Cyprus and have at least one parent with Cypriot nationality;

   · be aged between 16 and 25;  

   · be in good physical health;  

   · be competent at spoken English;

   ● hold a passport valid for international travel;

   ● agree to contribute 15% of their costs, equivalent to CYŁ184 or YTL505 – (please let

      the organisers know if you need help or advice in raising this money);

   ● agree to do the equivalent of one week’s voluntary work for a Cypriot NGO;

   ● have their parents’ permission (if under 18) to sail on a Tall Ship and take part in

      activities which seek to promote friendship between the Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-

      Cypriot communities and other European nationals.

Preference will be given to applicants who have not taken part in previous bi-communal projects.
